Monument Sign Refurbishment
In this case study we would like to share a recent project of a Monument Sign refurbishment in Boca Raton. Sign Partners worked together with the Tanglewood Home Owners Association, which is located within the upscale Broken Sound in Boca Raton. Although at Sign Partners we work with our customers all over South Florida, this was a project close to home, just a few blocks from our facility.
Monument Sign Refurbish for Tanglewood HOA
The Home Owners Association of Tanglewood in Boca Raton, contacted Sign Partners to discuss their requirements for an upgrade of their existing Monument Sign that is located at the entrance of their sub community. Their existing Monument Sign served it’s purpose for many years and was in need of a refresh. A refurbishment of an existing sign is a great way to upgrade your community or facility. Besides that, it has several other benefits opposed to a new sign. One of it’s main benefits is cost related as it’s more cost effective to use the existing, compared to building a new one. Furthermore, a refurbishment often has a quicker turn around because it doesn’t require any demolition and requires less fabrication elements.
The Tanglewood HOA was looking for a more modern look for their entrance Monument Sign. Together with our team of in-house graphic designers Sign Partners came up with a design proposal based on their requirements. In summary, the sign refurbishment consisted out of 3 elements.
- Redesign of the overall shape of the monument sign. This included the existing columns to be converted from round to square shape and the overall structural shape from square to round.
- New tile surface with a more modern and shiny finishing.
- New dimensional letters of the community name, with an updated and more modern font.
Below you can see a comparison of the sign design from before and after the refurbishment.
Process of the Monument Sign Refurbishment
Step 1
The first step of the refurbishment process was also the biggest part of the project. In order to convert the existing round columns into square ones, we built a square structure around the posts. Furthermore with masonry we built a round shape on top of the square edge of the monument sign for that round look.
Step 2
The next step of the process included the new tile installation that played a big part in the overall design of the monument sign, creating a modern look. Furthermore we applied a stucco finish on the columns in preparation for the painting.
Step 3
During this step of the process we had to wait for the stucco to be dry in order to start the painting of the monument sign. As you can see in the pictures, this step made a huge difference in terms of the finished product.
Step 4
Last but not least we added new dimensional letters to the sign structure, displaying the name of the community. The dimensional letters are fabricated out of laser cut acrylic for outdoor use.
